We Will Be Hosted By Ray and Geri Frescas At The Frescas Vineyard
12857 Sierra Vista Dr., Chicago Park
Thursday, September 12th, 6:00 p.m. This is the second Thursday of the month
Optional vineyard tour 6:00 p.m. The vineyard is a bit of a walk from where the meeting will be held. For those of you interested in the vineyard tour, park at the top of the vineyard and join the tour at 6:00 p.m. For those of you skipping the vineyard tour, continue up the road to the parking spot and join in there.
Once we are all back at the meeting area we have an interesting program in the works focusing on determining the best time to harvest your grapes. Of course brix and pH matter. We will test them for that. But what about phenolic ripeness? What about guys like Mark Henry who told us last month he never takes a refractometer or pH meter into the vineyard. Henry says the grapes will tell him everything he needs to know. So what exactly are the grapes saying?
If you are interested in bringing your grape clusters to the September Show and Tell Meeting please contact Dave Elliott so he can put you on the list. Plus he can answer any of your questions. Reach Dave at 916-201-2403 or at dj*******@sk************.com
This is a hands on presentation, not a sit and listen type. The reason we want people to bring three or four clusters of their variety is so we can experience the differences: seeing grapes at all different levels of ripeness.
And, as always, please consider bringing wine to share and perhaps even something to nibble on.
